5th ECONOMIC CENSUS, KANDHAMAL

 
     
    PUBLICATION OF REPORT AT THE DISTRICT LEVEL
    The provisional result of 5th Economic Census of this district was released in time and disseminated to DLCC members of this district. For the first time after completion of data processing and publication of Final result at State level the Director, Economics and Statistics has instructed to District Statistical Office to prepare their respective district report basing upon the soft copy containing the district data. Accordingly the report on 5th Economic Census of Kandhamal district has been published.

    HIGHLIGHTS of 5th ECONOMIC CENSUS
  • The 5th Economic Census enumerated 18.30 lakh establishments (14.47 lakh  rural and 3.83 lakh urban) in the state out of which percentage share of Kandhamal district was 34.84 thousand (1.90%) having 31.78 thousand(2.20%) in rural and 3.05 thousand (0.80%) in urban areas.
  • Out of 1.92 lakh agricultural and 16.38 lakh non-agricultural establishment in the state, the percentage share of establishment in the district was 8.72 thousand (4.54%) in agricultural and 26.11thousand (1.59%) in non-agricultural establishment.
  • Number of establishment has increased from 26.39 thousand (1998) to 34.84 thousand (2005) registering the annual growth rate of 4.58% over the period 1998 to 2005 in the district.
  • Agricultural establishment grew @11.83% per annum having 12.35% in rural and a negative growth -10.00% noticed in urban) and non-agricultural establishments grew@ 2.97% per annum having 2.82% in rural & 4.29% in urban during 1998-2005.
  • The 5th Economic Census enumerated 34.84 thousand establishments in the district out of which 3.05 thousand (9%) in urban areas and 31.78 thousand (91%) in rural areas.
  • As per 5th Economic Census 8.72 thousand (25.04%) are Agricultural establishments and 26.11 thousand (74.96%) are in Non-Agricultural establishments in the district.
  • Out of 34.84 thousand establishment in the district 25.23 thousand (72.41%) are Own Account Establishment (i.e. establishment without hired worker) and 9.61 thousand (27.59%) are establishments with hired worker.
  • Number of establishments has increased from 26.38 thousand to 34.84 thousand registering the growth of 32.03% over the period of 1998 to 2005 in the district.
  • Agricultural establishments have increased from 4.77 thousand in 1998 to 8.72 thousand in 2005 at the average annual growth rate of 11.83% where as Non- Agricultural establishments have increased from      21.61 thousand in 1998 to 26.11 thousand in 2005 with an average annual growth rate of 2.97%.
  • In 34.84 thousand establishments 64.20 thousand workers are found       engaged in the district. In rural 55.96 thousand (87.17%) workers are working where as 8.24 thousand (12.83%) workers are found engaged in Urban area.
  • Phiringia block stands first having highest number of establishment (5.83 thousand) where as G.Udaygiri NAC have least number of establishments (0.78 thousand).
  • Out of 37.05 lakh employment (26.83 lakh rural and 10.22 lakh urban) in the state, the percentage share of Kandhamal district was 64.20 thousand (1.73 %) having 55.96 thousand (2.09 %) in rural and 8.24 thousand (0.81%) in urban areas.
  • Out of 3.35 lakh agricultural and 33.70 lakh non-agricultural employment in the state, the percentage share of employment in the district was 14.45 thousand (4.31 %) in agricultural and 49.75 thousand (1.48 %) in non-agricultural sector.
  • Number of employment has increased from 44.77 thousand (1998) to 64.20 thousand (2005) registering the annual growth rate of 4.58% over the period 1998 to 2005.
  • Agricultural employment grew @22.39% per annum having 23.27% in rural and a negative growth -8.15% noticed in urban) and non-agricultural employment grew@ 3.87% per annum having 2.56% in rural & 3.48% in urban over the period 1998-2005.
  • Out of total employment of 64.20 thousand  the adult males are 37.51 thousand (30.56 thousand in rural and 6.95 thousand in urban) adult females are 22.53 thousand (21.46 thousand in rural and 1.07 thousand in urban) and children are 4.16 thousand (3.95 thousand in rural and 0.21 thousand in urban)
  • Out of total 64.20 thousand employment Agricultural establishment provides only 14.45 thousand employment (22.50%) where as Non- Agricultural establishment provides maximum employment i.e. 49.75 thousand (77.50%) in the district.
  • Employment in Own Account Establishment (OAE) is 37.06 thousand (57.73%) and employment in establishment with hired worker is 27.14 thousand (42.27%).
  • Employment rate per establishment of Kandhamal district was 1.84. It was 1.76 for rural and 2.70 for urban areas of the district.
  • Phiringia block stands first providing maximum 10.49 thousand employments in the district where as G.Udaygiri NAC have provided least number of employment 1.79 thousand in the district.
