ACTIVITIES : The Rural Works Division,Phulbani is under the administrative control of Rural Development Deptt. govt. of Orissa. The organisation has taken up improvement of the roads and construction of bridges to provide all weather communication facilities to the interior tribal pockets in order to boost their socio-economic condition in Kandhamal Dist. It also under take construction of new buildings and maintenance and repair work of old existing building of different deptts. in the rural areas other than N.A.C. and municipality area. The standard specification of road C.V.R. carriages width of 3.66m and for 2x1.5m berm and for V.R, carriage with of 3.00m with 2x1.5 berms are provided.
There are 4 nos. Sub-Division in charges of Assistant Engineers stationed at 1. Phulbani , 2. Tikabali, 3. Raikia , 4. Balliguda and 15 sectors in charge of Junior Engineers stationed at 1. Phulbani, 2. Gochhapada , 3. Phiringia, 4. Khajuripada under Phulbani sub-division, 5. Tikabali , 6. Chakapad, 7. G.Udayagiri under Tikabali sub-division, 8. Raikia-I, 9. Raikia-II, 10. Daringbadi, 11. Bamunigaon under Raikia sub-division, 12. Balliguda-I , 13. Balliguda-II, 14. Sarangada, 15. Kotagarh under Balliguda sub-division.
There are 969.00 KM. of Roads in Kandhamal District under the Jurisdiction of Rural Works Division,Phulbani, out of which 411.489 Km has been black topped, 245.842 KM metalled and 311.669 KM is earthern Bridge 39 nos and C.D-1515 nos. the sub-division wise position is as detailed below:
