CO-OPERATIVE ACTIVITIES OF KANDHAMAL DISTRICT.
The Boudh Kandhamal Division comprises of two Revenue District namely Kandhamal and
Boudh, with its headquarters at Phulbani. The Division is having three Administrative Circle at
Phulbani, Balliguda and Boudh. In Kandhamal District 40 Nos. of Cooperative Societies are functioning. The list of category of Co-operative Societies functioning in this District is as follows :

Except above societies there are 6 (six) Branches of Boudh C.C. Bank ltd. Working in this District for Socio-economic development of the Tribal People. The activities of these societies are as follows :
1.LAMPCS :The LAMPCS are mainly organized to provide package programme to Tribals under a single roof. Now the activities of the LAMPCS are limited with providing Agricltural Credit to its members and undertaking P.D.S. business. Members enrolled and
Kisan Credit Card issued to them by the LAMPCS is as follows :

(b)Investment of Crop Loan :
The members of the Co-operatives are provided with Agricultural Loan at low rate of interest i.e. 5% P.A. The loan disbursed to members during Khariff 2010, Rabi 2010-11 and Khariff 2011 is follows :

c. Consumption of Fertiliser : During Rabi 2010-11, 448.150 MT of fertilizer was consumed by the farmers of the Kandhamal District. Out of which 55,600 MT of fertilizers sold under ‘B’ Component and 392.550 MT under Cash sale.
D. P.D.S. Business by LAMPCS - In Kandhamal District 18 Nos. of LAMPCS are dealing with P.D.S. business. During 2010-11 as on 31.03.2011, these LAMPCS have purchased controlled commodities of Rs. 432.56 Lakhs and sold it for Rs. 459.39 Lakhs.
2. House Building Co-operative Societies - There are 2 (two) number of House Building Co-operative Societies functioning in this District. No finance has been made by these HBCS since 2004. Now these HBCS are collecting their past loans from the members.
3.CARD BANK Ltd., Phulbani : Only one Co-operative Agricultural Bank Development Bank (CARD Bank) is functioning in the Kandhamal District. No finance has been made by this society to its members since long.
4.District Wholesale Cooperative Store Ltd., Phulbani: The D.W.C.S. Ltd., Phulbani is now in defunct stage. Now it is dealing with P.D.S. business only. During the year 2010-11 the store has purchased Rs. 33.71 Lakhs of controlled commodities and sold it to Rs. 34.06 lakhs. The store has a market complex consisting of 17 Nos. of shop rooms at the heart of the Phulbani Town and let out to businessman. Due to paucity of fund the business of the Store is limited with P.D.S. Only.
5.R.C.M.S. Ltd., Raikia :In Kandhamal District only one RCMS i.e. Raikia Regional Co-operative Marketing Society Ltd., Raikia is functioning at Raikia. Due to paucity of funds, the society has restricted its functioning only to distribute the essential commodities like sugar, wheat and K. Oil. During the year 2010-11 the society has purchased controlled commodities of Rs. 32.38 Lakhs and sold it to Rs. 33.45
Lakhs.
6.Agency Marketing Co-operative Society Ltd., Tikabali (A.M.C.S.) AMCS
Ltd.:Tikabali is a pioneer institution having more than 65,000 tribal people as its members. The main objective of the society is to procure Minor Forest Produces from the Tribals in M.S.P. to protect the tribal from exploitation of private traders. Due to paucity of funds and change of Govt. policy the functioning of the society was closed and it was put under Liquidation on 5th Nov. 2005. The order of winding of the society was cancelled on 17.9.2007 vide Order NO. 23533 Dt. 17.9.2007 of the R.C.S. (O), Orissa, Bhubaneswar. Now the Govt. has constituted a Managing Committee of the Society under the Chairmanship of the Collector and District Magistrate, Kandhamal and A.R.C.S. Phulbani appointed as Chief Executive. At present Govt. has provided Rs. 1.00 Crore as grant-in-aid for revival of its business.
